Graduation Requirements

A minimum of 24 credits accumulated in grades 9 through 12 (except for those students who graduate early or who are accepted as early admission into a college program) is required for graduation from Boyertown Area Senior High School (BASH). Students are also required to complete a Career Research Portfolio culminating with the Senior Project Presentation (BCTC students fulfill the BASH requirement through their BCTC Senior Project Presentation).

Minimum number of courses/credits needed for graduation:

English The equivalent of four year-long courses in grades 9-12 4.0
Social Studies The equivalent of four year-long courses in grades 9-12 4.0
Science* The equivalent of three year-long courses in grades 9, 10, 11 or 12 3.0
Mathematics The equivalent of four year-long courses in grades 9, 10, 11 or 12 4.0
Wellness Two planned courses, one each in grades 10 and 12 .59
Fitness* Four planned courses, one each in grades 9-12 1.66
 

Minimum number of elective requirements for graduation:
 
Arts and Humanities Two planned courses in grades 9-12 1.0
Computer Applications* Two planned courses in grades 9-12 .83
Open Electives At least four planned courses 4.92


* One planned course that includes significant computer application. A computer applications course is one which integrates the use of the computer into the instruction. The second planned course may be accredited through demonstration of advanced computer skill on a computer applications test. It will consist of spreadsheet/database/word processing (must pass two of three) or advanced applications such as CADD, Internet or Desktop Publishing. See your counselor for courses that count toward computer applications planned course requirement.

Total credits for graduation must equal or exceed 24.0
