Walnut Street Theater Presents

The Walnut Street Theatre celebrates 20 years of bringing high-quality professional theatre to schools across the Delaware Valley. This multi-cultural Touring Outreach Company introduces students to the world of theatre through age appropriate, curriculum-based pieces, which are socially relevant, entertaining and exciting. Each season the theatre offers new productions designed to introduce young people to the art of theatre.

February 2, 2009 – Martin and Malcolm - How Long Must We Wait?

This play takes audiences on a journey that explores the explosive issues and ideas that ignited a nation in the 1960s. Through the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, gifted actors will show how the messages of these men are as relevant today as they were in that turbulent era of race riots, bus boycotts, sit-ins and marches. This inspirational story will bring the pages from history books to life. After the performance, audience members will have a chance to talk with the actors and ask questions about their performances, along with questions about their careers as professional performers.
