REDISTRICTING PROPOSAL
FOR THE 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR
BOARD ACTION
At the October 28, 2008 Board of School Directors meeting, the Boyertown Area School District Board approved a redistricting proposal created by a committee of board members and administrators. The purpose of the decision is to ensure that resources are in place to meet the needs of all elementary students and to efficiently utilize our school buildings. The plan is effective starting with the 2009-2010 school year. Please refer to the October 28, 2008 presentation for details of each reassigned area.
Provisions of this plan include:
- Reassignment areas detailed in the presentation and map
- NHUF → GES
- GES → BES
- GES → WES (Pinehurst Way/Foxtail Court development excluded)
- GES → CES
- BES → PFES
- Parents/Guardians of students who complete grade five in one of the district elementary schools during the 2008-2009 school year and are reassigned due to this plan will be offered the choice of the new assignment or for their child to complete grade six at their current school, per the established board policy for deviation requests.
- Students who are reassigned to BES or CES will be assigned to Junior High School West for grades 7 through 9.
- Administration will develop revised gray areas for Board consideration.
- A transition plan for students, staff and parents/guardians will be detailed further in the reassignment letters.
Reassignment letters will be sent to the parents/guardians of students who are affected by this approved plan in November 2008. Questions can be directed to Mr. Robert Scoboria, Assistant Superintendent for Student and Administrative Services at 610-369-7548 or rscoboria@boyertownasd.org.
