Dear Parent/Guardian:
Boyertown Area Senior High School is dedicated to serving the parents and students in our community. In order to improve our ability to serve you and your child, we are making some adjustments to the way our school counselors are assigned to students. For the 2008-2009 school year, students will be assigned to counselors on an alphabetical basis. This change will take place over the summer, and you will receive written verification of your child’s counselor when you receive your child’s course schedule in August.
Students will be assigned as follows:
Last name A-E Mr. David Slider
Last name F-K Mrs. Beth Shive
Last name L-Rh Mr. Joseph McGlinchey
Last name Ri-Z Ms. Christy Meitzler
As a result, the senior high school will no longer assign counselors by grade level, and we will no longer have a single counselor responsible for students attending the Berks County Technical Centers. Instead, each counselor will work with students in all three grades. By doing so, we improved our student to counselor ratio. This change will also benefit senior students who will now have four counselors assisting with their post-secondary planning instead of one counselor. Please note that once assigned to a counselor, each student will remain with that counselor until graduation. Students will not change counselors each year.
If you need the services of a counselor during the summer months, please refer to the assignments listed above. You may reach any of the above counselors by calling 610.473. 3690. Please note that Mrs. Beth Shive will be joining our Counseling Department for next school year. Mrs. Shive is a great addition to our department. She possesses both junior high and senior high experience, and we are pleased that she will be joining the high school staff.
All in all, we are looking forward to helping your children succeed and prepare for life after high school. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Daniel F. Goffredo
Principal
