Welcome back! The high school staff has been working hard this summer to ensure the 2008-2009 school year is a success. We intend on building on last year’s accomplishments in order to make our school even better. For instance, last school year, we had a record number of students take Advanced Placement courses. For this year, we hope to enroll even more students into our Advanced Placement courses. Also, we have once again expanded our Dual Enrollment opportunities. This school year, students will have the opportunity to take courses through Montgomery County Community College and Widener University while earning high school and college credit simultaneously. Opportunities such as these will encourage students to take rigorous courses while getting a head start on their post-secondary plans.
Additionally, the high school will continue to utilize the Parent Portal in order to allow parents to view their children’s grades and assignments via the internet, and we will continue our weekly electronic newsletter. Later in the year, parents will receive additional information on various presentations and evening programs that will provide important information regarding their children’s education, career planning, and safety. Efforts such as these promote greater school to home communications which helps to ensure our students and parents are informed and aware of our many programs.
The examples above represent just a small portion of the many exciting and innovative programs occurring at our high school. However, we recognize that we must not become complacent. We must continue to move forward and act in our students’ best interest. The stakes are too high, and our children are too important. So, as our school and community continue to work together, we are confident that each one of our students will be prepared for life in the 21st Century.
