Meet Mrs. Kehs
I LOVE school, and I love making school a FUN place to be! Yes, FUN!--It's okay to laugh and enjoy our time together. This is what motivates the children so that they do the "work" and learn. This is what makes each school year fly by so quickly. It is such a blessing to have a job that I love, but it took me awhile to find my "perfect" job. I wasn't always a teacher.
Years ago, I was a systems analyst working in the business industry. I took a break from this job to become a stay-at-home mom. The computer industry changed so rapidly during this time, that it would have been difficult to re-enter the work force. I decided that I should look for a new career so I began taking courses in the evening through Montgomery County Community College. After a few years, I transferred to Kutztown University and earned a BS degee in Elementary Education. Eventually I continued my education by taking graduate classes at DeSales University and earned a Master's Degree in Computers in Education K-12. My technology experience has certainly helped me. There are techy tools that are used in my classroom.
I'm excited to be in fourth grade which is where I started my career at NHUF. I've made a few changes since I came to NHUF in 2002. I started teaching fourth grade in a "bubble" class. After just one year I moved to kindergarten. I was there for seven years and then switched to third grade where I also stayed for seven years. As you can see, I like the challenge that comes with change. These changes have let me see the developmental milestones that students make at different ages so I'm able to help my students learn.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Charlie, and our three children, Tom, Bill, and Michelle and her husband Erik. It's always a s blessing to spend time traveling together. I also enjoy sewing, reading, and playing with techy tools at home. I am a life-long learner, and continue to learn all I can. I LOVE school!
