Mrs. Julee Carns

Personal information: My husband, Ed, and I have been married for 38 years and have raised 3 awesome children. We now have 4 granddaughters and 2 grandsons! This year will be my 22th year teaching 4th grade and I absolutely love this age.

Teaching philosophy: I consider myself more a "learner" and a "coach" than a "teacher." I spend countless hours researching new ways to teach, to learn new technology, and how to make it all fun to do. I do whatever I can to make each student's experience in 4th grade one they will always remember with a big smile. I am really not here to simply teach "stuff," but to help nurture each student into a life-long learner. I believe it is important for them at this age to begin to think for themselves and to wonder, wonder, wonder. I encourage them to try to solve problems themselves and to create short and long-term goals in many areas of their lives. I think it is healthy to be competitive with yourself! My goal is to make sure that each student feels safe in every way in our classroom, especially to take risks outside their comfort zones and try something new. I want each student to look forward to coming to school each and every day to have fun!
