Degrees and Certifications:
Miss Foster
Welcome to first grade! This will be my 13th year teaching at New Hanover and my 9th year teaching first grade! I taught kindergarten for 4 years before moving to first grade. I went to Albright College and earned a degree in Child and Family Studies while also getting my teaching certificates in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. In 2013, I completed my master's degree from Neumann University in Elementary Education with an emphasis on social and emotional learning by educating the whole child, and in the spring of 2020 I completed a certificate program in building resiliency.
When I'm not busy teaching, I LOVE to read. I read all kinds of things both fiction and nonfiction. I hope I am able to instill this love in my students. I also love going to the beach, playing with my cat, Oliver, and adding to my shoe collection. There are so many shoe related things in my classroom from a calendar to tape dispensers and a stapler; shoes are a small obsession of mine. :) Finally, I love to bake. Trying new recipes is something I do often, almost every weekend. My friends are never lacking a sweet treat to satisfy their cravings.
I hope we have a great year together!
