    Dear Parent or Guardian,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year and Academic English! I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and to express my excitement about working with your child in this new and unique virtual learning environment.

In 2001, I graduated from Kutztown University with  a B.S in Secondary Education/English.  I also obtained my Master’s Degree in Education from Penn State with a certificate in ESL and just recently completed 45 additional Master’s credits with a focus in motivation and engagement in the classroom.   My cumulative experience ranges from working with students in grades K-12 within Pennsylvania and California. I am eager to begin working with your child and to hold them to high standards, engage with them in meaningful ways, and to apply excellent teaching methods to involve them in their learning; especially in this virtual learning world we are about to undertake.

The course content and grading policies for Academic English are outlined in the syllabus given to your child in our classroom slidedeck and posted on Google Classroom.  Please read the syllabus and send me an email at sellixson@boyertownasd.org to indicate your understanding and support of the classroom expectations. In your email, please include your child’s name and express any questions, concerns or comments.  I will be recording returned responses for each child, so please send email confirmation upon receipt of this letter and reviewing the syllabus.  Also note, that if you ever have any comments, questions or concerns, I am available for phone calls and meetings  each day after school. To schedule a meeting, you may contact me via phone at 610-473-3549. I am excited about working with your child in this unique learning model, and I am looking forward to a great year!

    Sincerely,

    Stacey Ellixson
