Hello!
Thank you for visiting my page! I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and the 12th grade Inclusive Collaboration Model (ICM) that your child may be utilizing this coming year. The special education department is working hard to prepare senior learning support students for the transition to post-secondary education or career training, and the 12th grade ICM suits that need. The ICM ran with great success the last few years, as demonstrated by student achievement and through comments from student surveys. This model recognizes the need for the Special Education teacher’s expertise, but also the realization that such assistance may be provided without need of his/her full-time physical presence in the classroom. It enables the Special Education teacher to be available to meet on a reliable and consistent basis (or as needed) with the student’s assigned Regular Education teachers. Progress Monitoring goals are also supported through the availability of one-on-one tutoring in the student’s area of need. We encourage the students to self-advocate by talking with their teachers and/or the Special Education teacher, which prepares them for future education or employment.
As the 12th grade Academic Special Education Teacher, I personally contact every student at least twice a week. I look forward to having a strong, supportive relationship with these students; monitoring their grades and always encouraging them to produce their best effort. Please feel free to contact me anytime you have questions or concerns.
Thank you for your support!
