Welcome to First Grade! I am Mrs. Jodi Raifsnider. I absolutely love first grade! I have taught for several years. I graduated from Pennsylvania State University and Kutztown University. I taught kindergarten, pre-first, literacy first and first grade. I have two daughters named Payton and Taylor; and a husband named Scott. I enjoy spending time with them biking, swimming, hiking and of course shopping. I also have a black lab named Jethro! From learning how to read to using manipulatives to play math games; and being creative in writing and of course social studies and science we are going to have a wonderful year in first grade!
We will be going to math centers using manipulatives and hands on games. We will learn how to count by 1's, 2's, 5's, 10's, number sense, add, subtract, math story problems, geometry, recognizing money, telling time, etc. In reading, we will also go to centers called DAILY 5. DAILY 5 is read to someone, read to self, word work, writing, and listening. In writing, we will write personal narratives and dive into opinion and informational writing pieces.
