We have great news to share! As the result of a filing for a competitive grant completed by Mrs. Torchia, Assistant Superintendent, and Dr. Horton, K-12 School Counseling Coordinator, BASD has been awarded a $495,000 Safety and Security Grant by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
According to PA State Rep. Marcy Toepel, “This funding can be used by the districts to enhance security measures in a variety of ways that best suits each district’s needs.”
BASD’s grant (one of the largest awarded) will be used to enhance our Trauma-Informed Counseling Services. The plan includes a full-time, on-site Social Worker and three school-based counselors with the goal of providing further-enhanced Trauma-Informed Care for our students.
This money will cover costs associated with our grant for the 2020/2021 and the 2021/2022 school years.
