Dear First Grade Friends and Families,
Hello and welcome to first grade! My name is Mrs. Frecon and I will be your first grade teacher for the upcoming school year. I have enjoyed my summer with my family and friends. Now I am excited to get the new school year started! We have so many interesting topics to learn and discover.
I want to tell you just a little bit about me for now. You’ll learn much more when we meet on August 26th to start the year. I enjoy spending time with my friends, my husband, Steve, and our beautiful and fun children, Sophia and Benjamin. I adore my dog, Dupree. In my past sixteen years of teaching, I have had many wonderful and fun learning experiences. I believe in a student-centered classroom and experience-centered learning. My goal is to get to know each child’s learning styles, interests, backgrounds, and needs so as to aid my students in achieving their personal best and to become life-long learners. I am eager to participate in this educational experience with you!
In order to make the first few days of school run as smoothly as possible, please bring the following items to school with you:
- A healthy snack and a container of water each day
- A favorite book for silent reading
- Pencil box with crayons, scissors and a glue stick
- A coffee mug OR sturdy plastic cup (for on top of their desk) to hold pencils
- 2 - one-inch 3-ring binders with interior pockets
- 2 – Dry Erase EXPO Markers Black
- Old Sock or EXPO Dry Erase white board eraser (F-1)
- One Two Pocket Folder labeled with name
- Art smock labeled with student’s name
- Ear buds or Headphones in a Ziploc Baggie labeled with student’s name
In addition to the above mentioned items, please create a picture collage that will tell your classmates and teacher all about you! On a standard piece of poster board, use photographs, drawings, and/or magazine/computer pictures to tell us everything that you would like us to know about you (at least 5 items). For example, where you like to vacation, your favorite animal, hobbies, books you’ve read, people in your family, etc. Please make sure to clearly display your name on the front of your picture collage and bring it with you on the first day of school. Be creative and let your imagination soar!
If you are interested, our classroom is always in need of a fresh supply of tissues, hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes. Any donations that you would be willing to make would be greatly appreciated!
I look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks! Please continue to have an enjoyable summer vacation. I look forward to meeting all parents at our First Grade Parent Night (8/27/19, 6:00 PM) and the students on the first day of school. Sincerely,
Mrs. Jeanie Frecon
