Important Announcements

  • WSCM

    Hello Boyertown,

Boyertown Middle School East and West have been represented in this year’s “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” contest.  Students across two counties were asked to visit and promote the qualities of the varied opportunities in the manufacturing world.  As a result of their visits, short videos were produced promoting specific industries in the area.  While the contest is state-wide, our Boyertown East and West students will participate with every other middle school across Berks and Schuylkill Counties in several categories related to video production in hopes of advancing to state-level competition.

    • Boyertown Middle School East visited American Crane of Douglassville.
    • Boyertown Middle School West visited Appeeling Fruit of Dauberville.

One area that our kids can benefit from your support (and as many friends and connections as you have!) is the Viewer’s Choice Award.  You can help by following these steps:

    1. Go to https://www.whatssocool.org/contests/berks-schuylkill/
    2. Find the Boyertown East and Boyertown West videos.
    3. Click vote!
    4. Refresh your page and repeat 1, 2 and 3!

It’s that simple! You can refresh the page and vote as many times as you’d like but only February 26-28.  Share with your students, neighbors, friends and co-workers.  We hope to be visible on Facebook…if you see our videos comment where you’re voting from! We’d love to see how far across the country we can get votes from!

Starting now the videos are posted so please take some time to visit all of the student videos and not just Boyertown. It’s amazing what these young adults can create.

Thank you in advance for your support!

     Take care,

Tim Rothermel & Mark Magro (West Advisors)

Cynthia Simpson & Angela Bellino (East Advisors)

    Cyber Series

Did You Know? Video 1: Cyber/Charter/Public/Private

In a first of its kind series for BASD, we would like to educate our learning community at large, about outside cyber and charter schools, their impact on our district, and our plans to bring our students home.

What is the difference between a cyber school and a charter school?  Are they truly “free”?  How many students from our district attend outside cyber/charter schools?  Why do families choose these options? How do the PA cyber and charter schools perform as compared to BASD?  Are these schools subject to the same rules and regulations that public schools must adhere to?  And more…

At this point, you may be asking yourself, “Why do I care?”  Quite simply, because as a taxpayer, you are funding more than $2.0M per year in BASD costs associated with these outside placements.  We’re guessing that we have your attention now!

Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing short videos via FB, Twitter (via a link), and our website aimed at educating our district community on all of this and more.  We will also introduce you to Berks Online Learning – our own cyber school offering.  Finally, we will talk to you about the efforts underway to bring our students back to the Boyertown Learning Community – whether via our brick and mortar buildings or our own, much more cost-effective, cyber opportunity.  Stay tuned…we’re never too old to learn!!

    Map

Here is a link to the most up-to-date version of the Approved BASD Catchments by school building for all students in grades K – 8 for the 2020-2021 School Year.

School Assignment Map as of 01/06/2020

Catchments are color-coded by school.  Schools are grouped by elementary and middle school categories.  You can show the areas for both middle schools and elementary schools at the same time or choose to look at just one of the categories by checking and unchecking boxes.  You can type in your specific address and confirm your school assignment for each child by clicking on the magnifying glass.

Please note that the school assignment is based upon the child’s primary residence as listed in Infinite Campus and documented via proofs of residency and any appropriate legal documents.

If after using the map, you still have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at  BASDregistration@boyertownasd.org

DISCLAIMER: This map was drawn for BASD using Google Maps.  BASD cannot guarantee the accuracy of the Google Maps tool.  Final school assignments are at the discretion of BASD based upon the Board Approved Scenario 2 Rightsizing Project.  As of the 2020-2021 school year, BASD no longer has “gray areas”, nor do we accept deviation requests.
