About the Library - Rules, Policies, Hours, and How to Get a Pass

    Library Access

Passes are required when you visit the library from a class or study hall.  Students who wish to come to the library during a study hall must obtain a pass from the librarian before the period they want to come.  Study hall teachers will not issue full-period passes to the library.  Students may request one pass a day.

When you want a library pass, follow this procedure:

    1. Sign your name on the sign-up form in the library.

    2. Report to the library at the beginning of the period and hand in your pass at the circulation desk.

    3. Students must remain in the library the entire period.  Please have work for the entire period.

    Magazines

The library receives just a few magazines. The most current issues of magazines are on display on shelves to be read in the library and are non-circulating.  Older issues of magazines may be borrowed for a two week period and are subject to the same overdue fines as books.

    Books

All books from the general collection may be checked out for a two-week loan period.  The date on the date due slip is the date by which the book should be returned.  Students returning books late will be fined 10 cents per day for each overdue book, excluding weekends and school holidays.  Books may be renewed provided there is not a demand for that particular title or subject matter.  Students with overdue books or outstanding fines must clear their record before borrowing additional materials.

    Chromebook Chargers

Chromebook chargers may be checked out for a few hours. They should not leave the building and should be returned as soon as the device is charged. Students are encouraged to charge their Chromebooks nightly.

    Reserves

Students may reserve books if they are already checked out by filling out a form at the circulation desk.  The student will later be notified through his/her homeroom teacher when the book requested becomes available.  If the library does not own the materials a student needs, every effort will be made to obtain it through district.

    Reference Books

Books from the reference collection may be checked out overnight and returned before first period the next morning.  Students returning overdue reference books will be fined 10 cents per day for each overdue book.
