Course Description
Financial Algebra is designed to give students a strong foundational understanding of the most essential topics of Algebra, as well as a working understanding of the personal finance topics they encounter now and in the near future. The course will engage students with real-world financial applications while maintaining mathematical rigor. Each of the course’s 8 units (and mini-units) blends one core personal finance topic with one relevant math concept (e.g. Investing and Exponential Functions).
Many Financial Algebra students plan to attend college and all of them expect to one day be gainfully employed. To help facilitate these goals, we will emphasize growth and personal accountability. Students are expected to be highly self-motivated, taking the fullest responsibility for their own learning and seeking help when needed.
