FAQ'sWhat is PaperCutMF Printing?
A PaperCutMF printer is a network print queue set up on the print system server that does not automatically route pages to a specific printer. The system sees your print job in the PaperCut print queue and transfers it into database storage. When your ID card is swiped (faculty and staff) or your ID# entered (students) at a Kyocera MFD (copier), the print system recognizes your location and moves your print jobs from the database storage to a print queue that routes pages to the printer at your location. Print jobs sent to the print queue can be released at any of the Kyocera MFD (copier) units throughout the district. If a print job is left in the database storage for more than 24 hours it will be deleted and can no longer be released and printed.
Why are we implementing PaperCutMF printing? The Boyertown Area School District has been studying the use of printers, printer paper and all associated costs for the past three years to ensure it is being utilized efficiently. After careful consideration, we have decided to further consolidate and manage printing by providing access to multifunction printers spread throughout each building with input from each building principal. PaperCut printing allows faculty, staff and students to print to a single print queue and retrieve the job from any printer throughout the district. The Kyocera devices that are being deployed also serve as a copier and color scanner. Conservatively speaking, the program will save the district in excess of $35,000.00/year, not including the cost of paper.
What about color print jobs?Color printing is not being eliminated from the district. We are eliminating color print devices from the buildings and providing a centralized color print service at the district Print Center. Color print job requests should be submitted to the Print Center using the same procedure currently used for B&W jobs. By removing color printers from the schools and moving all color jobs to the Print Center, we are lowering the cost per color page from .145 (14 cents) to .0656 (6.56 cents) per color copy/print. Using the color pages printed figures from this school year alone, the district will realize a savings of over $16,000.00/year.
