Welcome to the Boyertown Area School District
Department of Special Education
The Boyertown Area School District (BASD) is committed to providing a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment for all students with disabilities. BASD strives to build programs specifically tailored to the individualized needs of students and attempts to deliver those programs in the regular education setting as much as possible. The goal of the BASD special education program is to equip students with skills which will enable them to succeed in a changing world.
Because parents have extensive and unique knowledge of their child’s strengths and weaknesses, they are considered an integral part of the IEP process and their contributions are valued. BASD special education staff utilize the information parents provide in order to guide the development of an individualized special education program for their child.
BASD operates a full continuum of service, and special education programs are in full compliance with state and federal laws.
The Boyertown Area School District must submit a special education plan to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) every three years. Recommendations will be made for the Board to approve the SE Plan and for the Administration to submit the plan to PDE.
